BLUES HOOPS FALL TO DEFENDING CHAMPS

Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball team dropped an 88-61 decision to the No. 10 nationally ranked Ryerson Rams in their 2016-17 home opener on Friday, November 11 at Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport.
 
The Blues trailed 37-36 at halftime but a 28-9 third quarter in favour of the Rams sealed the OUA defending champions victory.
 
Fifth-year Blues forward Manny Sahota led the home team with 13 points and three rebounds, while fellow veteran Devin Johnson had 12 points and a team-high eight boards on the night.
 
Fourth-year guard Reilly Reid chipped in with 11 points and six boards, with third-year guard Sage Usher adding 10 points and four boards in the loss.
 
Fifth-year Rams guard Adika Peter-McNeilly led all players with 24 points and 12 boards, while Ammanuel Diressa had 15 points in the win.
 
The Varsity Blues return to action tomorrow as they travel to St. Catharines, Ont., to take on the Brock Badgers. Game time is set for 8 p.m.
