BLUES OPEN 2016-17 WITH BIG WIN OVER RAMS

Box Score The defending national champion University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's volleyball team opened their 2016-17 regular season campaign with a 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-18) victory over the Ryerson Rams on Friday night (Oct. 28) at Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport.
 
Second-year right side hitter and reigning OUA East player of the year Alina Dormann led all players with 15 points on 15 kills, while adding nine digs on the night.
 
Third-year left side hitter Anna Feore notched 10 points on nine kills and one ace, while rookie outside hitter Emma Armstrong tallied eight points on six kills and two aces, adding seven digs.
 
Veteran setter Madelyn Mandryk recorded 30 assists and 10 digs, while veteran libero Asli Ersozoglu had nine digs in the victory.
 

 

 
Ryerson was led by Veronice Livingston's 12-point performance. Fourth-year libero Julia Longman led all players with 16 digs in the loss.
 
The Blues celebrated their 2015-16 OUA and CIS championship teams in a special pre-game ceremony. Beth Ali, Acting Assistant Dean and Director of Athletics at U of T, as well as Gord Grace, Chief Executive Officer of the OUA and former captain Bojana Radan were on hand to unveil the banners in the Kimel Family Field House.


 

 
The Varsity Blues return to action next Friday, November 4 as they travel to Kingston, Ont., to take on the RMC Paladins. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
