"Last year's success definitely put us on the map in the OUA as a place where student-athletes want to go to play volleyball and further their academic studies," said Varsity Blues head coach John Barrett. "We have a world-class facility here and are now a program to contend with."
Â
The Varsity Blues return the bulk of their 2015-16 roster, which finished fourth in the OUA to secure the program's first home playoff game since the 2003-04 season.
Â
Toronto's offence will be led by fourth-year right side hitter William Colucci. The environmental studies and ethics major from Toronto ranked second in the OUA with 3.89 kills and fourth in the province with 4.5 points per set last season.
Â
Rookie Jordan Figueira and third-year veteran Wells Hick are expected to split setting duties for the Blues, while Toronto will look to dominate the middle by committee this season. Veterans Zia Karim and Aidan Haslett return and look forward to seeing sophomore Austin Valjas put work in at the net in 2016-17.
