The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball team is in Montreal for the 2016 UQAM Tournament, September 30-October 2.
Game 1: Toronto 69, MacEwan 65
Four players hit double digits as the University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball team defeated MacEwan University 69-65 on Friday night (Sept. 30) at the UQAM Tournament in Montreal.
Second-year guard Keyira Parkes led all players with 14 points, while adding five steals, three rebounds and two assists on the night.
A trio of Blues chipped in 11 points in the victory. Fifth-year forward Alanna Garner had 11 points and three boards, while fourth-year veterans Rahshida Atkinson and Emily Piccini also had 11 points in the victory.
MacEwan was led by Kendall Lydon's 13-point performance, while Kayla Ivicak had 12 points and a game-high eight boards in the loss.
Game 2: Laurentian 77, Toronto 74 (OT)
The Varsity Blues dropped a narrow 77-74 overtime decision to Laurentian on Saturday night.
Fourth-year guard Diedre Edwards led the Blues with 12 points, nine rebounds, five steals and four assists, while Alanna Garner notched 11 points and four boards.
Sophmore Charlotte Collyer tallied 10 points and seven rebounds, with Emily Piccini adding 10 points on the day.
Rahshida Atkinson recorded nine points, seven boards and four steals and Keyira Parkes notched eight points, four assists and four steals in the loss.
Game 3: UQAM 73, Toronto 65
Three players hit double digits as the Varsity Blues wrapped up the tournament with a 73-65 loss to the host UQAM Citadins.
Alanna Garner led the team with 11 points and eight boards, while Diedre Edwards also notched 11 points, six assists and five rebounds on the day.
Rahshida Atkinson added 10 points, with Keyira Parkes tallying nine points and two steals and Maddy Baker recording eight points in the loss.
