BLUES COMPLETE WEEKEND SWEEP

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's water polo team wrapped up the Carleton Invitational with a perfect 4-0 record, notching 10-6 victories over the Ottawa Gee-Gees and Carleton Ravens alumnae on Sunday morning (Oct. 16).

In the first match against Ottawa, the Blues bench produced a tight, low scoring first half that ended with the Blues ahead 2-1.

With some starters inserted for the first half of the third quarter, the Blues built a 7-2 advantage.
Junior Ali Kraft (Rancho Santa Margarita, Cali.) led the way with three goals at the start of the third quarter.

Freshman Cambria Greer (Rancho Santa Margarita, Cali.) notched a pair of goals, while co-captain Ana Miroslavic  (Toronto), sophomore  Megan MacCormac (Ottawa) and freshmen Ema Gradascevic (Toronto), Joy Carter (Toronto) and third-year exchange student Sophie Mayrbaeurl (Austria) each tallied once.

After only an hour's rest, the Blues squared off versus the Carleton Ravens alumnae.  The first half was hard fought with the teams trading goals before the Blues scored late to take a 5-4 advantage into half time.

Miroslavic, Kraft and freshman Kassie Fraser (Vancouver) led the way with two goals apiece.

Sophomore Emily Kelvin-Davies (Fraser Valley, B.C.), freshman Rhianna Wood (Calgary), MacCormac and Greer chipped in with one goal each.

Up next for the undefeated Blues is the Queen's Invitational, October 29-30, when the Blues will meet three Montreal-based universities for the first time ever.
