BLUES BLANK LAKERS ON THE ROAD

Box Score Third-year middle Tessa Davis led all players with 11.5 points as the No. 4 nationally ranked University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's volleyball team defeated the Nipissing Lakers 3-0 (25-16, 25-12, 25-11) on Saturday afternoon in North Bay, Ont.

With the win, the Blues improve to a perfect 9-0 and remain atop the OUA standings. The Blues have dropped a mere two sets over nine regular season matches, last dropping one on Oct. 31 at Queen's.

Davis tallied nine kills, one ace and three assisted blocks on the day, while rookie standout Alina Dormann had nine kills, one ace and two assisted blocks.

Second-year left side hitter Anna Feore notched six kills, two aces and four digs, while veteran libero Denise Wooding added a game-high seven digs. Setter Madelyn Mandryk recorded 33 assists and four digs in the victory.

Tracy Hammerton led the Lakers with seven kills in the loss.

The Varsity Blues are back in action tomorrow as they host the York Lions (4-5) at Goldring Centre. Opening serve is set for 1 p.m.
