Box Score Third-year right side hitter William Colucci notched a career-high 23 kills in leading the University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's volleyball team to a 3-1 (19-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-20) victory over the Nipissing Lakers on Saturday, January 16 in North Bay, Ont.
With the victory, the Blues improve to 7-4 and remain in sole possession of fourth place in the OUA standings.
An environmental science and ethics major, Colucci added two blocks, one ace and eight digs to his team-high 26-point performance on the day.
Team captain Aidan Haslett added a career-high 16 kills, eight digs and two aces, while sophomore Alex Ferris had nine kills and six digs.
Rookie libero Andrew Kos led all players with 13 digs, with veteran setter Aleksa Miladinovic notching a game-high 45 assists in the victory.
The Lakers were led by Cameron Branch's game-high 24 kills and 11 digs. Lyndon Sonego had 18 kills in the loss.
The Varsity Blues are back in action tomorrow as they host the York Lions at Goldring Centre. Opening serve is set for 3 p.m.
