STRONG 4th QUARTER LIFTS BLUES OVER BRUINS

The Varsity Blues men's basketball team defeated the Sheridan Bruins 88-79 as a part of the University of Toronto Scarborough homecoming event on Wednesday night (Sept. 30) at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre.
 


Down 61-52 after the third quarter, the Blues rallied to score 36 points in the fourth, led by three consecutive baskets from first-year guard Nikola Paradina.

Sophomore standout Sage Usher led all players with 18 points, while adding a game-high eight assists and six boards on the night.

First-year forward Daniel Johansson of Stockholm, Sweden had 16 points, seven rebounds and two steals, with Paradina ending the night with 14 points and three rebounds.

Veteran forward Manny Sahota added 10 points and a game-high nine boards, while both Wilson Torres and Miroslav Jaksic had nine points in the victory.

Five Bruins hit double digits, with Dylan Derana leading the way with 15 points in the loss.

The Varsity Blues continue their pre-season schedule this Friday, October 2 as they host the McGill Redmen at the Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport. Tip off is set for 7 p.m.
