Box Score Four players hit double digits as the University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball team defeated the Brock Badgers 84-79 on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 14) in St. Catharines, Ont.
With the win, the Blues (5-12) move into a tie for third place with the Queen's Gaels in the OUA East division.
Fourth-year guard Julian Clarke led the Blues with 19 points, eight rebounds and five assists, while Devin Johnson recorded a double-double of 18 points and 14 boards.
Manny Sahota added 13 points and six boards, with Dylan Churchill notching 10 points in the win.
Down 38-35 at halftime, the Blues were explosive in the third quarter, recording 27 points to take the lead for good. Churchill drained back-to-back three's and the Blues were up 62-54 heading into the fourth quarter.
Dani Elgadi brough the game within one late in the game, but the Blues held on, going 9-of-10 from the free throw line to seal their fifth win of the season.
Brock was led by a 33-point performance from Johneil Simpson, while Elgadi added a double-double of 22 points and 12 boards in the loss.
The Varsity Blues return to action this Wednesday, February 18 as they host the York Lions at Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport. Tip off is set for 8 p.m.Â
