The two-time reigning champion University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's water polo team advanced to Sunday's final with an 11-4 semifinal victory over the Carleton Ravens on Day 2 of the OUA championships at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ont.
Toronto will face the host Marauders in their eight consecutive OUA final appearance, tomorrow at 1:15 p.m. The Blues have won four of the past seven provincial banners and six in program history, dating back to 1988. Â
The Marauders advanced to championship final after an upset 13-11 victory over the No. 2 seeded Ottawa Gee-Gees last night.
The Blues found themselves in a tight contest early on and led 1-0 at the end of the first quarter on the strength of a penalty shot goal by freshman Megan MacCormac (Ottawa).
Â
Carleton tied it up twice in a row in the second quarter before the Blues scored three unanswered goals to lead 5-2 at the half. Â
Â
The Blues increased the lead in the third and again in the fourth by identical 3-1 scores.
Â
Sophomore Ali Kraft (California) and MacCormac paced the Blues attack with a hat trick each.  Junior Marianne Tout (Vancouver) notched a pair of goals, while senior co-captain Sydney MacDougall  (Winnipeg), junior Ana Miroslavic  (Toronto) and freshman Emily Kelvin-Davies  (Fraser Valley, B.C.) added single markers.
