BLUES UNBEATEN HEADED INTO DECEMBER BREAK

Box Score The No. 4 nationally ranked University of Toronto Varsity Blues women`s volleyball team notched their eighth straight win, defeating the York Lions 3-0 (25-20, 26-24, 25-21) on Sunday night (Nov. 22) at York University.

With the win, the Blues wrap up the fall semester with a perfect 8-0 record, having dropped only two sets, and sit atop the OUA East division. The Lions drop to 3-5 and remain in fifth place.

First-year right side hitter Alina Dormann led the Blues again, tallying 12 kills, 10 digs, two aces and four blocks, while sophomore left side hitter Anna Feore had nine kills 17 digs, two aces and two blocks on the night.

Third-year middle Tessa Davis was a force at the net, recording seven kills and four blocks, while adding five digs and two aces. Similarly, fifth-year veteran Bojana Radan tallied six kills and six blocks in the middle.

Second-year Veronica Derylo led all players with three aces, with libero Denise Wooding adding a team-high 18 digs and setter Erin Jacobs registering 31 assists, seven digs, two blocks and one ace in the victory.

Sarah Williams led the Lions with 11 kills and 18 digs, while Sabah Kalim had a game-high 20 digs in the loss.

The Varsity Blues resume the regular season on Saturday, January 16 when they travel to North Bay to take on the Nipissing Lakers.
