Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's volleyball team defeated the Guelph Gryphons 3-1 (25-15, 25-12, 21-25, 25-20) in their 2015-16 season opener on Friday night (Oct. 23) in Guelph.
Fifth-year Ryerson Rams transfer Stefan Ristic shone in his first game in the Blue and White, racking up 24 kills and seven digs in the victory.
Fellow fifth-year veteran Aleksa Miladinovic tallied 45 assists, 12 digs and six blocks, while team captain Aidan Haslett had eight kills and four digs on the night.
Middle Zia Karim notched seven kills, with sophomore Alex Ferris adding five kills, seven digs, two aces and three blocks in the win.
Guelph was led by Josh Green, who recorded 11 kills and nine digs in the loss.
The Varsity Blues return to action next Friday, October 30 as they travel to Kingston, Ont., to take on the RMC Paladins. Game time is set for 8 p.m.
