The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's hockey team hosts the UOIT Ridgebacks and Queen's Gaels this weekend (Jan. 9-10) at Varsity Arena.
Toronto takes on the Ridgebacks on Friday night, followed by the Gaels on Saturday. Game time on both days is 7:30 p.m. Advanced tickets are on sale here. Saturday's game will also be broadcast live on OUA.tv.
The Varsity Blues are 8-3-2 and in fifth place in the OUA Standings, four points out of second place. Toronto ended the first half with three wins in their last four games.
Third-year forward Kristi Riseley leads the Blues with five goals and eight assists for 13 points in 13 games played. Fellow veteran forward Sonja Weidenfelder has also scored a team-high five goals this season.
Fifth-year netminder and 2013-14 CIS all-Canadian Nicole Kesteris ranks fifth among OUA goaltenders with a .932 save percentage in 11 starts.
The UOIT Ridgebacks, who take on the Ryerson Rams on Thursday night, are 5-8-1 and in 11th place in the OUA standings. First-year forward Chelsea Ball leads the squad with six goals and three assists for nine points.
Tori Campbell and Cassie Charette split duties between the pipes and hold .879 and .883 save percentages, respectively.
The No. 5 Queen's Gaels are 10-2-2 in second place and lead the OUA offensively with 46 goals in 14 games. Taryn Pilon ranks second in the OUA with 17 points, while Shawna Griffin has four goals and 11 assists for 15 points so far this season.
Caitlin Lahonen has started nine games in net and ranks fourth in the province with a .935 save percentage.
