Box Score Third-year forward Devin Johnson recorded a career-high 25 points as the University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball team fell 82-74 to the Queen's Gaels on Friday, January 23 in Kingston, Ont.
With the loss, the Blues drop to 3-8 and sit in fourth in the OUA East division, while the Gaels improve to 4-7 and are in third place.
Johnson went 11-for-21 from the floor, while adding a double-double of 11 rebounds on the night. Both Manny Sahota and Julian Clarke had 16 points, while Kwasi Oti-Awere added eight points and seven rebounds in the loss.
Toronto had a monster first quarter, leading the home team 29-15 after 10 minutes of action. The Gaels rallied to bring the game within five (40-35) at halftime.
Queen's took the lead in the third frame and despite a rallying effort from the Blues, went onto win it by eight.
Tanner Graham led the Gaels with 24 points, while Greg Faulkner had 21 points in the win.
The Varsity Blues return to action tomorrow night as they travel to take on the York Lions. Game time is set for 8 p.m.Â
