The University of Toronto Varsity Blues baseball team defeated the Guelph Gryphons 12-11, before falling 6-5 on Saturday, September 20 at Hastings Stadium.

Toronto got out to a 3-0 lead early in the game, but Guelph responded with four runs in the bottom of the second to take an early lead. The Blues answered back with five runs in the fourth and fifth innings to take the lead for good. A four-run top of the eighth sealed the one-run with for the Blues.

Adam Odd led the Blues with two hits and three RBI, while Kravice Batts and Steven Hersch each had two hits in the win.

In the second game of the day, Toronto got out to an early 1-0 lead, but the Gryphons rallied with three in the third. The Blues tied it up in the top of the fifth, but Guelph went ahead again in the bottom of the inning. Both teams traded runs, with the Gryphons emerging with the narrow win.

Odd again led the Blues with four hits, while Jonathan Sartor had two hits and three RBI in the loss.Â
