WOMEN'S WATER POLO GOES 2-1 IN PRE-SEASON ACTION

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's water polo team competed at the Rochester Invitational this past weekend (Sept. 13-14), going 2-1 against three competitive men's teams.

Toronto opened the tournament with an 11-9 victory over the Binghampton men's team. Sophomore standout, Emily Bidinosti, led all scorers with five goals for the Blues.  Fellow sophomore Ana Miroslavic and junior Sydney MacDougall each tallied a pair.  Singles went to co-captain Danielle Hirsh and freshman Alexandra Kraft.

The Blues went onto drop a a close match, 13-9, to a strong men's club from Adirondack, N.Y. Bidinosti, continued her torrid scoring streak notching an incredible six goals.  Single goals were scored by fellow sophomores Ana Miroslavic and Marianne Tout and freshman centre forward, Alexandra Kraft.  

The Blues closed out its three-game set at with a resounding 23-8 win over the men from the University of Buffalo. The more experienced Blues women were simply too much for the Buffalo squad.  Bidinosti incredibly bumped up her production yet again, scoring eight goals to lead the Blues.  Bidinosti was the star of the tournament notching a total of 19 goals in her three games.  Freshman Alexandra Kraft scored five goals and sophomore Ana Miroslavic added four.  Medical school student Olga Bednarek potted two goals with singles going to senior co-captain Danielle Hirsh, juniors Julie Szpara and Sydney MacDougall and grad student Anna Seltner.
