The University of Toronto Varsity Blues baseball team defeated the Queen's Gaels 10-3 and fell 6-5 on Sunday, September 14 at Dan Lang Field.

The Blues finally got to play in their 2014 home opener after two doubleheaders were postponed due to rain. Toronto got off to a great start, overcoming an early 2-0 deficit to eventually take it 10-3.

Kyle Bowers led the Blues with three hits, including a triple, and one RBI, while Steven Hersch, Bradley Bedford and Kravice Batts each had two hits in the victory.

Veteran Marek Deska earned the win on the mound, allowing six hits and striking out six in five innings of work.

The Varsity Blues return to the field this Wednesday, September 17 as they travel to Waterloo to take on the Laurier Golden Hawks in exhibition action. Game time is set for 7 p.m.Â
