The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women`s track and field team placed second overall as the 2014 CIS championships wrapped up Saturday night (March 8) in Edmonton, Alta.

Toronto finished with a combined team score of 93 points, three points behind the champion Guelph Gryphons.

The Blues men placed 10th overall with 25 points, one point behind the Western Mustangs. The York Lions took the team title with 103 points.

Toronto`s 4x400 relay team of Maggie Hanlon, Rachel Jewett, Fiona Callender and Natalie Geiger earned the gold medal in a time of 3:42.55.

Geiger, Hanlon, Callender and Maddie Warren also claimed silver in the 4x200 relay with a time of 1:39.20.
