The University of Toronto Varsity Blues track and field team earned six medals on Day 2 of the CIS championships Friday night in Edmonton.

Honor Walmsley and Colleen Hennessy kicked off the night with a silver and bronze medal finish, respectively in the women's 1000m run. Walmsley crossed the finish line in 2:51.10, with Hennessy right on her heels in 2:51.88.

Maggie Hanlon placed second in the 300-metre dash in a time of 39.04 seconds, while fellow rookie Gabriela Stafford (Toronto) earned the bronze medal in the women's 3000m, crossing the finish line in 9:39.03.

Toronto's women's 4x800 relay team of Colleen and Kelly Hennessy, Fiona Callender and Walmsley capped off the night with a silver-medal performance in a U of T record time of 8:47.53. .

Greg MacNeill earned Toronto's men's lone medal of the day, placing second overall in the men's 60m hurdles with a CIS record-tying time of 7.83 seconds. Ottawa's Sekou Kaba set the new CIS championship record in 7.79 seconds.
