BLUES BODE WELL AT ARMORY

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's and women's track and field teams travelled to New York City to compete in the Armory Collegiate Invitational, February 7-8.

Maddy Kelly led the way in women's action, placing first overall in the 800-metre College race with a time of 2:11.37. Rachel Jewett placed third in 2:12.37.

Gabriella Stafford earned a second-place finish in the 3000 College event in a time of 9:38.10, while Honor Walmsley was fourth in the 800-metre (2:08.61) and fifth in the 1000-metre (2:49.51) races. Natalie Geiger also placed fifth in the women's 200 dash in a time of 25.08 seconds.

Veteran Ethan Davenport led Toronto's men with a second-place finish in the mile (4:09.85), while Sacha Smart placed third in the 1000-metre race in a time of 2:23.50. Alex Denault also finished fourth in the 3000 Eastern race (8:37.61).

The Varsity Blues return to action this weekend as they host the Hal Brown Last Chance Meet at the Athletic Centre Field House.
