BLUES OH SO CLOSE VERSUS NO. 10 GRYPHONS

Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's volleyball team dropped a narrow 3-2 decision (27-25, 25-22, 18-25, 22-25, 16-18) to the No. 10 Guelph Gryphons on Friday, November 7 in Guelph, Ont.

With the loss, the Blues drop to 1-3 on the season and sit tied for seventh in the OUA standings.

Fourth-year right side Kyle Fick of Scarborough, Ont., led all players with 18 kills, while fifth-year Windsor, Ont., native Dave Merritt had 17 kills and seven digs.

Jake Dysselhof notched 12 kills and nine digs, with rookie Alex Ferris adding a team-high 16 digs on the night. Veteran setter Michael Denton had 53 assists in the loss.

Patrick Strzalkowski led the Gryphons with 17 kills, while Marc Wilson had 16 kills in the victory.

The Varsity Blues return to action this Sunday, November 9 as they host the Ryerson Rams at Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
