Box Score The No. 4 University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's volleyball team defeated the Ottawa Gee-Gees 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 26-24) on Sunday afternoon (Nov. 30) in Ottawa.
With the win, the Blues remain a perfect 9-0 and sit stop the OUA standings. U of T ends an eight-game Ottawa win streak as the Gee-Gees drop to 8-3 and are second in the East.
Fifth-year left side hitter Charlotte Sider notched a game-high 16 kills and 15 digs. Right side Jennifer Neilson added eight kills, seven digs and two aces that helped close out the third set. Caleigh Cruickshank recorded eight kills, seven digs and two blocks on the day.
Madelyn Mandryk continues to shine, tallying 39 assists and two aces, with Denise Wooding notching 12 digs in the victory.
Kaly Soro led the Gee-Gees with 12 kills and 11 digs, with Myriam English adding nine kills and six digs in the loss.
The Varsity Blues return to the court December 28-30 as they host the National Invitational Tournament at Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport.
The Blues will then travel to Edmonton for the University of Alberta New Years Classic (Jan. 2-4) before returning to OUA regular season action on Friday, January 9 when they host the Waterloo Warriors at Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport.Â
