BLUES BLANK LAKERS IN NORTH BAY

Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's volleyball team extended their winning streak to six with a 3-0 (25-22, 25-14, 25-8) victory over the Nipissing Lakers on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 15) in North Bay, Ont.

The No. 5 Blues, now 6-0, remain the only undefeated team in the OUA standings, and one of only two in the country (UNB, 4-0). Toronto has dropped just one set in six regular season games so far this season.

Fifth-year left side hitter Charlotte Sider led all players with 14 kills, 10 digs and two blocks. Third-year left Caleigh Cruickshank added 10 kills, eight digs and two blocks, while Jennifer Neilson had nine kills and seven digs.

Third-year setter Madelyn Mandryk tallied 39 assists and four digs, with Denise Wooding adding nine digs in the win.

Down 16-12 at the first set technical time out, the Blues rallied back to take in 25-22. It was all Toronto there as U of T built a 16-7 advantage en route to a 25-14 second set victory, and led 16-5 at the third set break before sealing the game with a 25-8 win.

The Lakers were led by a nine-kill, 11-dig performance from Tracy Hammerton.

The Varsity Blues return to the court tomorrow afternoon as they travel to take on the York Lions at Tait McKenzie Centre. The game will be streamed live on OUA.tv, starting with opening serve at 2 p.m.
