NOEL NAMED OUA FIRST TEAM ALL-STAR

Second-year University of Toronto Varsity Blues wide receiver, Llevi Noel, was named a first team all-star as the OUA announced football all-stars on Wednesday afternoon.

A native of Toronto, Noel led all players in the OUA and CIS with 8.2 receptions and 126.3 yards per game, catching 49 passes for 758 yards – in both of these categories, he ranked second in the province having played in only 6-of-8 games in 2014.

"Llevi Noel is a true competitor and a gifted receiver, who despite having played two less game then most of the top receivers in the country, is first in two major statistical categories and is in the top seven in two others," said Varsity Blues head coach Greg Gary. "His has the ability to break the big play anytime he gets the ball, but also understands the down and distance and knows what he needs to help the team move the chains. Llevi has never been afraid to go inside or take the big hit and has demonstrated, time and again this year, his explosive and elusive speed after the catch is made."

He had four games of 100+ yards, including a career-high 200 yards versus the Carleton Ravens, and made four touchdown receptions this season.

Noel helped the Blues offence top the U of T single-season record for highest net offence (3,165 – 1981), ending 2014 with 3,772 yards. Toronto also broke team single-season passing records for most attempts (330), completions (205) and highest completion percentage (62.1%), all topping marks set in 1981.

Toronto's offence ranked third in the OUA, averaging 496 yards per game.

The 2014 OUA football major award winners will be announced at 11 a.m. ET on Nov. 13 at a press conference in Hamilton, Ont.
