BLUES NOTCH SECOND STRAIGHT WIN

Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball team topped the Ryerson Rams 74-56 on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 30) at Mattamy Athletic Centre.

With the win, the Blues improve to 2-6 and sit tied for fifth in the OUA East standings heading into the December break.
Fourth-year guard Jill Stratton (Etobicoke, Ont.) tallied a team-high 15 points, while adding eight steals, five assists and five boards in the win.

Liane Bailey (Montreal) added 12 points and six rebounds, while Rachael Sider of New Westminster, B.C., notched nine points and a game-high 10 boards on the day.

Toronto opened the game on a 10-0 run and held a 19-7 lead after the first 10 minutes of action. The Blues continued to dominate through the second, again holding Ryerson to single digits, and was up 33-16 at halftime.

Ryerson attempted to rally in the second half, narrowly outscoring Toronto 16-13 in the third quarter. A monster fourth quarter from both teams saw the Blues outscore the Rams 28-24 en route to the dominant 18-point win.

The Varsity Blues return to action on Monday, December 30 as they host an exhibition game versus the UQAM Citadins at the Athletic Centre Sports Gym at 2 p.m. U of T resumes regular season play on Sunday, January 5, when they host Ryerson, also at 2 p.m.
