NEILSON, BLUES TOP MARAUDERS

Box Score Fourth-year outside hitter Jennifer Neilson led all players with 14 kills as the University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's volleyball team defeated the McMaster Marauders 3-1 (25-21, 25-17, 23-25, 25-16) on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 2) at Burridge Gymnasium in Hamilton, Ont.

With the win, the Blues improve to 2-2, while the Marauders drop to 1-3 after three weeks of OUA volleyball action.

Neilson (Port Coquitlam, B.C.) added eight digs, two blocks and one ace to her game-high 14 kills. Fellow fourth-year veteran Charlotte Sider (Ottawa) had 10 kills and six digs, while rookie Tessa Davis (South Surrey, B.C.) had eight kills, 2 blocks and one ace.

Veteran setter and Vancouver native Malena Rapaport recorded a season-high 40 assists and 12 digs, while libero Kate Lonergan added 17 digs in the win.

McMaster was led by a trio of Alicia Jack, Maicee Sorensen and Sophie Bukovec, who each had eight kills in the loss.

The Varsity Blues return to the court tomorrow as they host the Lakehead Thunderwolves at the Athletic Centre Sports Gym. Opening serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.
