BLUES BLANK MARAUDERS, EDGE RAVENS

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's water polo team defeated the McMaster Marauders 13-0, before coming away with a 7-5 victory versus the defending OUA champion Carleton Ravens at the Queen's Invitational on Saturday (Nov. 2) in Kingston, Ont.

Freshman Emily Bidinosti (Kitchener) led the charge versus the Marauders, scoring three goals.  Third-year standout Danielle Hirsh (Ottawa), sophomores Stephanie Watson (Victoria) and Sydney MacDougall (Winnipeg) and freshman Ana Miroslavic (Toronto) scored two goals apiece, while law student Hanna Gros (Toronto) and senior and team captain Maggie Burlington (Calgary) added one each.

In the second game of the day, the Blues steadily built up to a 5-1 halftime lead.  The lead shrank to two goals during the third quarter but the Toronto women never let it get closer than that.

Freshman Ana Miroslavic (Toronto) had a huge game on offence, recording four goals to lead the Blues.  Single tallies were scored by Burlington, Gros and Hirsh.

The Blues continue the invitational tomorrow with a 10am tilt against host Queen's followed by an afternoon rematch against Carleton.

The University of Toronto is the proud host of the 2013 OUA water polo championships, November 29-December 1, at Varsity Pool.
