The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball team dropped a 90-66 decision to the No. 7 Windsor Lancers on Saturday night (Nov. 16) at the Athletic Centre Sports Gym.
With the loss, the Blues fall to 2-3 and remain in eighth in the East, while the Lancers improve to 3-3 and sit third in the West.
Fifth-year guard Alex Hill led all players with 25 points and moves into second on U of T's all-time career point leaders list, passing Kenny Hillborn's career total of 1167 points (2000-05). The Toronto native is just 90 points shy of breaking Dave West's record of 1269 points set in 1960-61, 62-25.
Hill was 12-for-14 from the free throw line and added six rebounds on the night. Dylan Churchill recorded 12 points, going 4-for-8 from beyond the arc, while Nicholas Burke and Matt Savel added eight points apiece in the loss.
Fifth-year forward Lien Phillip (St. Mark's, Grenada) led the Lancers with 24 points, six boards and four assists, while Enrico Diloreto had 18 points and Josh Collins added 13 in the win.
The Varsity Blues return to the court next Friday, November 22 as they head to Thunder Bay, Ont., to take on the Lakehead Thunderwolves. Game time is set for 8 p.m.
