The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's volleyball team defeated the Nipissing Lakers 3-0 (25-11,25-13,25-16) in their home opener on Saturday, October 26 at the Athletic Centre Sports Gym.

With the win, the Blues improve to 1-1 on the season. 

Fourth-year outside hitter Jennifer Nielson of Port Coquitlam, B.C., led the Blues with a game-high 11 kills. Fellow veteran Charlotte Sider (Ottawa) put away eight kills, seven digs and three serving aces. Malena Rapaport and Mandelyn Mandryk had 11 and 16 assists in the win. 

Christine Caruso and Allison Larsen topped the Lakers scoring, both registring six kills. Jade DeCosta put up 15 assits in the loss. 

The Blues will be back in action tomorrow when they take on the York Lions at the Athletic Centre Sports Gym. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
