The OUA defending champion Varsity Blues baseball team dropped a 4-2 decision to the McMaster Marauders on Wednesday, September 5 at Dan Lang Field.
The Blues took an early 1-0 lead when fourth-year veteran Jonathan Isaac hit an RBI single to send Steven Hersch home from second base.
The Marauders responded and took the lead in the fifth inning with two runs on singles from Sean McConnell and Andrew Cochrane.
Toronto native Drew Taylor, starting his fourth season with the Varsity Blues, pitched well up to that point, striking out five and holding the Marauders to two hits through four innings.
The Blues evened the score in the bottom of the fifth; however, the Marauders battled back and scored two unanswered runs in the top of the eighth to seal the win.
The Varsity Blues return to the field this weekend with four games in the Kick-Off Tournament at Milton Field.
NOTES: The Blues held a pre-game ceremony, unveiling their 2011 OUA championship banner in the outfield of Dan Lang Field.
