Box Score The Varsity Blues men’s basketball team dropped a 99-63 decision to the No. 1 Carleton Ravens on Friday, February 17 in Ottawa.
The Blues fall into sixth place in the OUA East with a 9-12 record, two points behind the fifth-place Laurentian Voyageurs (10-11).
Third-year forward Alex Hill (Toronto) led the Blues with 15 points, while Arun Kumar drained three three-pointers en route to an 11-point performance. Both Sean Nickel and Ben Garvin had nine points in the loss.
The Ravens opened the game on a 19-3 run and led the Blues 28-14 at the end of the first quarter. Carleton held Toronto to 10 points in the second to take a 53-24 lead into halftime.
U of T’s best quarter came in the third, with 22 points scored and the Blues went on to match the Ravens 18-18 in the fourth; however, it wasn’t enough as the undefeated Ravens came away with the dominant win.
Tyson Hinz and Phillip Scrubb led the Ravens with 22 and 24 points, respectively.
The Varsity Blues return to the court tomorrow night as they take on the Ottawa Gee-Gees. Tip off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
