Box Score The Varsity Blues men’s volleyball team fell 3-2 (25-22, 10-25, 25-20, 23-25, 13-15) to the OUA defending champion Queen’s Gaels on Sunday, November 4 in Kingston, Ont.
With the loss, the Blues drop to 2-2 and are tied for fifth with the Ryerson Rams. Queen’s improves to 3-1 to start the season and is in a four-way tie for first in the OUA standings.
Fifth-year right side hitter Mitchell Woodside of Clyde River, P.E.I., led the Blues with 12 kills and eight digs, while Dundas, Ont., native Jonathan Adomait had 10 kills and 10 digs on the day. Matthew Vares (Toronto) led all players with 16 digs, while Michael Denton posted 41 assists in the loss.
Queen’s was led by Philippe Goyer’s game-high 16 kills. Both Scott Brunet and Mike Tomlinson had 10 kills in the win.
The Varsity Blues return home next Saturday, November 10 when they host the York Lions at the Athletic Centre Sports Gym. Game time is set for 12 p.m.
