BLUES COME BACK FALLS JUST SHORT

Box Score The Varsity Blues men’s volleyball team overcame a two-set deficit, but fell just short in a 3-2 loss (23-25, 23-25, 25-22, 25-18, 12-15) to the Guelph Gryphons on Friday night (Nov. 23) in Guelph.
 
Toronto’s fifth-straight loss drops them to 2-6, and tied for seventh in the OUA standings.
 
 Fifth-year right side hitter Mitchell Woodside of Clyde River, P.E.I. led all players with 20 kills, while adding seven digs, two aces and two blocks. Jonathan Adomait recorded nine kills, 11 digs and three blocks, while Dave Merritt added eight kills and three digs in the loss.
 
After narrowly dropping the first two sets, the Blues rallied back to take the third and fourth and force a fifth-and-deciding set.  Unfortunately, U of T fell just short, dropping the final set 15-12.
 
Guelph was led by Andrew Whitaker and Winston Rosser, who each tallied 14 kills in the win.
 
The Varsity Blues look to rebound tomorrow night as they travel to Waterloo to take on the Warriors (7-1). Opening serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
