BLUES FALL SHORT IN OVERTIME

Box Score Four different players hit double digits as the Varsity Blues men’s basketball team dropped an 87-76 overtime decision to the Laurier Golden Hawks on Friday, November 16 in Waterloo, Ont.
 
With the game deadlocked at 72-72, the Blues (1-2) and Golden Hawks (1-1) headed to overtime for the second time in history. Toronto had previously defeated Laurier 92-89 in extra time on Nov. 6, 2009.
 
The Hawks came out on top, with a dominant 15-4 overtime frame, to secure their first win of the season.
 
Forward Ben Garvin (Holland Landing, Ont.) led the Blues with 16 points, with fellow fifth-year veteran Arun Kumar (Hamilton, Ont.) adding 14 points, four steals and two assists on the night.
 
Third-year guard Matt Savel (Hamilton) notched 13 points, while Ajax, Ont., native Adam Plummer had 10 points and a team-high seven rebounds in the loss.
 
Laurier’s William Coulthard tallied a game-high 29 points, while Max Allin had a double-double of 23 points and 13 boards in the winning effort.  
 
The Varsity Blues return to the floor tomorrow night as they finish their Waterloo road trip versus the Warriors. The game will be streamed live on SSN Canada, beginning at 8 p.m.
