WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL TO HONOUR TOP ALUMNI SATURDAY

The Varsity Blues women’s volleyball team will celebrate 2012 Olympian Elodie Li Yuk Lo and 2011 Pan American Heather Bansley as they host the Windsor Lancers this Saturday night (Oct. 27) at the Athletic Centre Sports Gym.
 
Opening serve is scheduled for 6 p.m., with the presentation set to take place between the second and third sets.
 
Li Yuk Lo played with the Varsity Blues from 2001-06. During that time, she was named the OUA East division rookie of the year in 2001-02, a two-time OUA second team all-star and won the OUA East division award of merit in 2005-06.
 
Also an assistant coach with the Blues, Li Yuk Lo became the first Olympic athlete to come from U of T’s women’s volleyball program as she competed for Mauritius at the 2012 Games in London.
 
A two-time CIS all-Canadian, Bansley completed her fifth and final year of eligibility with the Blues in 2009-10. The English and linguistics graduate ranked first on the OUA leader board in points per game (5.17), kills per game (4.26) and serving aces per game (0.70) and also led the to the provincial title and berth to the CIS national championship in 2010.
 
Bansley represented Canada at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara.
