LANCERS GET THE BEST OF BLUES

Mitchell Woodside and Matthew Vares recorded 10 kills each as the Varsity Blues men’s volleyball team dropped a 3-1 (19-25, 25-22, 25-17, 25-22) decision to the Windsor Lancers on Friday night on the road.

A native of Scarborough, Ont., Vares added eight digs, while Michael Denton had 10 digs and Steven Khuu led all players with 36 assists in the loss.

The Blues took the first set by using a balanced offensive attack as six players recorded kills.

The second set proved to be a see-saw battle, with neither team gaining more than a two-point lead, until Windsor took the set by three.

Windsor regrouped and held a comfortable lead before taking the third set and eventually closed out the game with some long rallies in the fourth.

The Varsity Blues look to rebound tomorrow night as they head to London, Ont., to take on the Western Mustangs.  Game time is set for 8 p.m.
