Karlee Diesing tallied 13 kills and 13 digs as the Varsity Blues women’s volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision (18-25, 25-18, 22-25, 17-25) to the West-leading McMaster Marauders on Friday night (Feb. 4) in Hamilton, Ont.
With the loss, the Blues remain 5-12 in fifth place in the OUA East division, while the Marauders (15-1) maintain their first-place standing in the West.
Rookie Sarah Chapin of Georgetown, Ont., recorded 10 kills and seven digs in a rematch of the 2010 OUA championship final, while Charlotte Sider of Ottawa had seven kills and nine digs on the night. Malena Rapaport tallied 27 assists and 12 digs in the loss.
McMaster was led by Larissa Puhach`s 10 kills and 15 digs. Sarah Kiernan had eight digs, while Megan Nederveen recorded a game-high 18 digs in the win.
The Varsity Blues return to the court next Saturday, February 12 when they host the Windsor Lancers at the Athletic Centre Sports Gym. Game time is scheduled for 12 p.m.
