MEN’S VOLLEYBALL FALLS PREY TO MARAUDERS

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's volleyball team fell 3-1 (25-18, 25-10, 23-25, 25-16) to the McMaster Marauders on Friday, February 4, in Hamilton Ontario.

With the loss, the Blues drop to 5-12 and remain tied for eighth with Ryerson, while McMaster improves to 14-3 in second place in the OUA standings.

Matthew Vares of Scarborough, Ont., and Mississauga, Ont., native Jake Dysselhof were the top scorers for the Blues, landing 11 kills each. Adam Palmer of Ottawa followed behind with six kills, while Michael Denton recorded a game-high 13 digs in the loss.

McMaster’s Tyler Santoni of Kingston, Ont., led all players with 15 kills. Santoni was backed up by Tyson Alexander (Shanty Bay, Ont.) and Shayne Petrusma (Burlington, Ont.) with 11 and 12 kills, respectively.

The Varsity Blues are back in action on Sunday, February 6 when they host the Guelph Gryphons at the Athletic Centre Sports Gym. The game is scheduled for 2 p.m.
