BLUES EARN FIRST ROUND BYE WITH WIN OVER PALADINS

Box Score Four players hit double digits as the Varsity Blues men’s basketball team defeated the RMC Paladins 94-48 on Saturday, February 5 in Kingston, Ont.

With the win, the Blues clinch a first-round playoff bye and improve to 14-5 in second place in the OUA East.

Andrew Wasik of Burnaby, B.C., tallied a team-high 19 points and added seven boards, while fellow veteran forward Drazen Glisic (Sarajevo, BIH) had 16 points on the day, going 8-of-11 from the floor. Both Sean Nickel and Arun Kumar recorded 14 points on the night, with Kumar going 4-for-5 from beyond the arc.

RMC took an early lead, outscoring the Blues 24-14 in the first quarter. However; Toronto took over from there, with a big 34-6 second and 25-6 third quarter to put the game away.

RMC’s Jonathan Wilson led all players with 21 points, while Gavin Varay-Cox chipped in with 14 in the losing cause.

The Varsity Blues return to action next Friday, February 11 as they host the No. 1 Carleton Ravens at the Athletic Centre Sports Gym. It’s White Out Weekend when the men tip off at 8 p.m.
