Box Score The Varsity Blues men’s basketball team dropped a lopsided 95-55 decision to the Brock Badgers on Saturday night (Dec. 3) in St. Catharines, Ont.
Fifth-year forward and Burnaby, B.C., native Andrew Wasik led the Blues with 16 points and six boards, while both Ben Garvin (Holland Landing, Ont.) and Kitchener, Ont., native Sean Nickel had eight points in the loss.
After gaining a 19-13 lead after the first quarter, the Blues deflated and let the home team gain a nine-point lead (36-27) at halftime. In the opening three minutes of the third quarter, the Badgers offence came alive, as they put together a 15-2 run to take a 21-point lead 51-30. They would extend their lead to thirty points (75-45) early in the fourth quarter to secure the victory.
Brock shot an impressive 60.0% (12-for-20) in the second half from downtown.
Brock was led by Jameson Tipping’s 24 points, including five three pointers on the night. Mark Gibson had a double-double of 20 points and 10 boards, while Tshing Kasamba added 15 points in the win.
The Varsity Blues head into the December break with a 3-5 record and tied for third place in the OUA East. Toronto is set to play in three games in the Ryerson tournament from December 28-30 before returning to regular season action at RMC on Jan. 6.
