The Varsity Blues men’s volleyball team fell 3-1 (23-25, 15-25, 25-21, 18-25) to the Queen’s Gaels on Friday night (Nov. 18) in Kingston, Ont.
The Blues are 1-6 to start the 2011-12 season and sit in ninth place in the OUA standings. The win lifts the Gaels to a 3-3 record, tied with Waterloo for fifth.
Fourth-year rightside hitter Mitchell Woodside of Clyde River, P.E.I., led U of T with 10 kills, nine digs and three blocks. Sophomore Jake Dysselhof (Mississauga, Ont.) tallied eight kills and six digs, while Steven Khuu recorded 34 assists in the loss.
Joren Zeeman led the Gaels with a game-high 12 kills, while Niko Rukavina had 19 digs in the win.
The Varsity Blues return to the court next Saturday, November 26 as they head to Hamilton, Ont., to take on the McMaster Marauders. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
