The Varsity Blues women’s volleyball team defeated the Windsor Lancers 3-1 (25-7, 21-25, 25-23, 25-18)) on Saturday, November 12 at the Athletic Centre Sports Gym.
With the win, the Blues improve to 6-0 and remain atop the OUA standings.
Second-year leftside hitter Rebecca Crosier of Ottawa led the Blues with nine kills and six serving aces. Sarah Chapin (Georgetown, Ont.) added 12 points with six kills, four blocks and two aces for the Blues.
Libero Katarina Rossall tallied a game-high 14 digs, while Julia Bellehumeur racked up 31 assists in the win.
The Blues dominated the first set 25-7, but lost some of their momentum in the second as the Lancers fought back. The Blues returned with a vengeance in the third as the Lancers struggled to keep up and finished the game off with a comfortable 25-18 win in the fourth.
Windsor’s Kaila Seguin led all players with 11 kills and also added 11 digs in the losing effort.
The Varsity Blues return to action tomorrow as they host the Western Mustangs at the Athletic Centre Sports Gym. The game is set to begin at 3 p.m.
