The Varsity Blues men’s volleyball team dropped a 3-1 ((16-25, 25-19, 15-25, 22-25)) decision to the York Lions on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 31) at Tait McKenzie Centre. 

The Blues are now 1-1 and sit tied for third in the OUA.

Veteran Mitchell Woodside as well as sophomores Matthew Vares and Jake Dysselhof each tallied a game-high nine kills. Michael Denton led all players with 14 digs, while Alex Park had 26 assists in the loss.

Nikola Sandic led the Lions with eight kills and 11 digs on the day.

The Varsity Blues return to the court next Friday, November 4 as they host their 2011-12 home opener versus the Guelph Gryphons at the Athletic Centre Sports Gym.  Opening serve is scheduled for 8 p.m.
