The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men’s basketball team reached triple digits for the second time this season in defeating the RMC Paladins 106-34 on Friday, February 5 at the Athletic Centre Sports Gym.
Toronto first reached the 100-point mark on Jan. 9 in a 105-63 victory, also over the Paladins.
With the win the Blues improve to 8-9 and are in fourth place in the OUA East with a game in hand over the Queen’s Gaels (9-9).
Toronto shot 52.5% from the floor to RMC’s 14.3%, outrebounding the visiting team 60-35 and tallying 16 steals on the night.
Five Varsity Blues reached double digits and all 12 players contributed at least four points. Second-year forward Ben Garvin (Holland Landing, Ont.) recorded a game-high 20 points, while Junior Toby of Pickering, Ont. had a double-double with 11 points and 14 boards.
Veteran Nick Snow posted 10 points in his first game back from injury and fellow London, Ont. native Patrick Sewell had 12. Freshman guard Dakota Laurin recorded solid minutes for the Blues and had an 11-point night.
RMC was led by Gavin Viray-Cox’s 10 points, while Simon Dakin and Matthew Wookey had five apiece.
The Varsity Blues return to action tomorrow night (Feb. 6) when they host the Queen’s Gaels at the Athletic Centre Sports Gym. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
