The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men’s volleyball team continued their solid play in 2010, winning a five set thriller 3-2 (23-25, 25-23, 25-12, 17-25, 15-11) over the Waterloo Warriors on Friday, February 12.
Fifth-year veteran Steven Kung lead the way for the Blues, finishing with an incredible 26 kills on the evening. The Toronto native sits second in the OUA standings with 4.85 points per game.
Mitchell Woodside (Clyde River, P.E.I.) and Adam Palmer (Ottawa) recorded four and five serving aces respectively to help the Blues to victory.
Toronto is 5-2 in the New Year, pulling themselves back into the OUA playoff race with an overall record of 9-8.
The Varsity Blues will round out their 2009-10 regular season with a three game home-stand, beginning this Sunday, February 14. They host the Queen’s Gaels at the Athletic Centre Sports Gym at 2:00 p.m.
