BLUES FALL TO REDMEN

The Varsity Blues men’s hockey team dropped a 9-2 decision to the McGill Redmen on Friday, November 5 at McConnell Arena in Montreal.

With the loss, the Blues are 2-3-3 and sit in ninth place, while the Redmen improve to a perfect 9-0-0 record and sit atop the OUA East division.

McGill’s Francis Verreault-Paul scored two goals in the first eight minutes to build a 2-0 lead for the home squad.

The Redmen added two more in the early minutes of the second period, before rookie forward Blake Boddy got the Blues on the board at the 7:38 mark. Second-year forward Kyle Ventura scored Toronto’s other goal on the powerplay with just under two minutes to go in the second frame.

The Redmen tallied three more for a total of five second-period goals, and added two more in the third period, to solidify the win.

The Varsity Blues return to action tomorrow night when they travel to Ottawa to take on the Carleton Ravens. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
