BLUES EARN SILVER MEDAL AT OUA CHAMPIONSHIP

The Varsity Blues women’s water polo team finished second at the 2010 OUA championship, November 26-28, in Kingston, Ont.

For the third consecutive year, the women’s final featured a rematch of the round robin game between the Ravens and the Toronto Varsity Blues. A back-and-forth match saw the Ravens turn the tables on their rivals as they flipped the scoreline from their first meeting to win the gold medal by a score of 9-7.

U of T was led by Ainsley Vittese of Calgary, who scored four goals and Nicole Brown of Burlington, Ont., who scored twice.

Brown and Brittany Sinclair of Scarborough, Ont., represent Toronto on the all-star squad.

The Blues opened the tournament with a dominant 15-4 win over the host Queen’s Gaels and went on to claim a 1-0 default-win over the York Lions on Saturday morning. After defeating Carleton 9-7 in overtime on Saturday night, the Blues went on to defeat the McMaster Marauders 9-2 to finish first in pool play.
