MEN’S BASKETBALL FALLS TO LAURIER

Box Score The No. 9 Varsity Blues men’s basketball team fell 94-85 to the Laurier Golden Hawks on Saturday, November 27 at the Wilfrid Laurier Athletic Complex.

With the loss, the Blues are now 6-2 and remain in second place in the OUA East heading into the holiday break. Laurier improves to 6-2 and are tied with the Lakehead Thunderwolves for second in the West division.

Fourth-year guard Justin Holmes tallied a game-high 22 points in the loss. The Toronto native drained four of Toronto’s eight three-pointers and was 4-for-5 from the free throw line.

Forwards Drazen Glisic of Sarajevo, BIH and Toronto native Alex Hill each recorded 17 points, while Andrew Wasik had 10 on the day.

Laurier’s Patrick Donnelly led the home team with 20 points, while Maxwell Allin and Matthew Buckley had 17 apiece in the win. Allin added 10 rebounds and 11 assists to his triple-double performance.

The Hawks got out to a quick lead and built a 29-17 lead after the first quarter. Despite rallying, the Blues were unable to overcome the early deficit and dropped their second game of the season.

The Blues return to the court December 21-22 when they travel to Amherst, N.Y. for two exhibition games versus Daemen College. Game time on both nights is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
