The Varsity Blues women’s volleyball team defeated the Lakehead Thunderwolves 3-2 (12-25, 25-21, 25-8, 21-25, 15-13) on Saturday, November 20 in Thunder Bay, Ont.
After a slow start, the Blues came back and were dominant in the final four sets.
First-year middle hitter Sarah Chapin of Georgetown, Ont., led the Blues with seven kills, three serving aces and two blocks, while Mississauga, Ont., native Alexandra Hudson chipped in with seven kills and 11 digs. Both Katarina and Shannon Rossall of Calgary recorded 16 digs and Lauren Ebenhardt had a game-high 22 digs in the win.
Lakehead was led by Vanessa Chorkawy and Sarah Reid, who both had a game-high 13 kills in the loss.
Head coach Kristine Drakich will be looking for her 300th career win (regular season and playoff) as the Varsity Blues square off against the Thunderwolves again tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m.
