The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men’s volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 26-14) decision to the Ryerson Rams on Saturday, January 16 at Kerr Hall.
With the loss, the Blues are 5-7 and sit in a three-way tie with the Laurier Golden Hawks and Waterloo Warriors for sixth place.
Although the Blues kept the score close throughout the first two sets, the Rams widened the gap coming into the third to take the game in straight sets.
Steven Kung (Toronto, Ont.) was a valuable player for the Blues and worked hard to keep the Rams at bay with a team-high 15 kills. Engineering student Mike Manning (Vernon, B.C.) came up with eight kills in the loss.
The Rams were led Luka Milosevic’s 16 kills and Chris McLaughlin’s with 12 kill performance.
The Varsity Blues return to the court next Sunday, January 24 when they travel to Waterloo, Ont. to take on the Laurier Golden Hawks. The game is scheduled for 1 p.m.
